More Mindfulness Meditation in May
May is a great month to commit to becoming more mindful through meditation. The power of mindfulness meditation to promote well-being is backed up by peer-reviewed scientific research (see References below). Mindfulness meditation helps to
- Manage emotions and stress
- Reduce fear, worry and anxiety
- Improve happiness
- Build personal resilience
- Improve mental focus and clarity
All of these ‘self-improvement’ effects will also make you a more effective agent for agaya and ubuntu in the world — by improving your own well-being, you can more readily make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Apps and Online Meditation Support
If you want free support in mindfulness meditation as it relates to Novasutras, you can join the Novasutras group on the Insight Timer app. There are also several meditation ideas and guided meditations on our YouTube meditation playlist. The Novasutras group and our Novasutras challenges on Habitica are ways to help hold yourself accountable for meditating regularly.
Mindful in May is a fee-based online program giving you access to lots of other tools and lessons.
Many communities have local meditation groups. Some are in the Buddhist tradition, while others emphasize secular approaches such as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (these are often offered by hospitals and other health service providers for little or no charge).

May all your May meditations be mindful of ubuntu and agaya!
I would say I am super brand new to Novasutras, but I am definitely liking the things I learn about it. I already attempt to keep to a regular meditation routine, so I think this all fits in with my life goals.
