We encourage the formation of Novasutras local chapters, where people can gather in celebration and mutual support. Local chapters allow for the growth of trusted relationships. They provide context for taking meaningful action. Chapters can respond to local needs, track seasonal cycles, and learn to honor and acknowledge local indigenous wisdom about the land.
We formed the first local chapter in Santa Cruz in 2019. Michelle is now beginning to form one in Silicon Valley. We are happy to help anyone who wants to form a local chapter wherever they are.
Are you interested in helping to organize or form a new local chapter? Contact us and we’ll connect you with information, support and resources to help your chapter thrive.
Santa Cruz Local Chapter
The first local chapter formed in Santa Cruz, California in 2019. We have had regular gatherings for meditation and shinrin-yoku in local parks, and helped to organize Climate Justice Crew actions. We also provided support and participated in actions to stand with the Amah Mutsun to Save Juristac.
Michelle was the original organizer for the Santa Cruz chapter. She has since moved to Silicon Valley, but that doesn’t mean the chapter has to be closed. If you’d like to get more involved in planning and coordinating local ecospiritual and climate justice events, contact Michelle. We’re hoping to build a core team to organize in the Santa Cruz area.
Silicon Valley Local Chapter
Michelle is also seeking to build a team for a new local chapter in the South Bay area (Santa Clara County in California). We’re integrating work with the South Bay Interfaith Climate Justice Network. We’d like to know if there are people in Silicon Valley (a.k.a. the Valley of Heart’s Delight, including the Tamien/Guadalupe River watershed) or thereabouts who are interested in participating in local events. Contact Michelle if you want to see this happen.
Novasutras Local Chapters Worldwide
The originating intentions of Novasutras included the formation of local chapters all around our amazing planet. While things didn’t go quite as planned, and not nearly as quickly as hoped, we still hold that intention. Wherever you are, we’d like to help you gather to explore ecospirituality and sacred activism. Contact us if you want to co-create a Novasutras chapter in your local community.
