As an ecospiritual organization seeking to grow a global movement, we have many opportunities to endorse initiatives and open letters around climate, habitat protection, social justice, and the rights of Nature. These efforts are tangible, collective expressions of ubuntu and agaya in the world.
In Novasutras, we invite the co-creation of a shared spirituality to address the needs of our time. An ecospirituality developed in community can be a source of resilience and renewed meaning for people confronting the existential crises we now face. It can help bring ecoactivists into supportive spiritual community.
Traditions of holiday revels have been co-opted to push an environmentally-destructive consumerist agenda. How can we reclaim older holiday traditions, and create new ones like Climate Caroling, to heal our communities? What other actions can add meaning and build community with our holiday celebrations?
As evidence of climate destabilization increases, more people are experiencing climate anxiety, ecogrief, and similar distress. How common is climate anxiety? How do we deal with the emotions that arise from this escalating climate emergency? Novasutras practices and events serve to nurture and uplift one another during these challenging times.
Climate conversations are a good place to start growing your climate justice activism. You can join online trainings in supportive community to have more effective climate conversations. Trainings from THIS! Is What We Did will show how to avoid pitfalls, promote understanding, and “listen deeply” to people of all views on climate change.
In Novasutras, ecospirituality supports ecoactivism. We share ideas on how to engage in sacred activism. Whether it’s having a climate conversation with a neighbor, or risking arrest in civil disobedience, there are many paths of sacred activism. Which paths are you ready to explore?
How is the invasion of Ukraine connected to fossil fuel funding and the ongoing climate crisis? How can activists respond? We can break our global fossil fuel addiction, reducing the incentives and capacities of warmongers, and reducing our risks during the climate emergency.
