September 2019 Equinox Meditation

The Equinox, the exact time the sun will cross the equator on its journey south, is Monday, September 23rd, at 07:50 UTC (that’s 12:50am Pacific Daylight Time – check your local time and date).

This Equinox happens to coincide with a Global Climate Strike week of actions. Novasutras Santa Cruz participated by holding an Equinox meditation focusing on climate and forest well-being, with an in-person meditation about 12 hours before the moment of the Equinox. A recording of that public event has just been posted on our YouTube channel, so you can include it as part of you own Equinox celebration.

Michelle Y. Merrill, Ph.D., is an expert in international sustainability, systems and complexity, teaching and learning, biologically-inspired design, anthropology and ecology. Over decades of research, she has worked in the US, Asia and Africa studying rainforest primates and Higher Education for Sustainability. She is a published author, a respected educator and international speaker, and the founder of Novasutras. She earned her doctorate from Duke University in 2004.
